Yes you can use one on the bonnet, the bracket will just fit between the frame under the bonnet. Drill some holes and away you go, adjust the bolts on the carrier so the wheel just rests on the bonnet when in situ. Don't listen to the nay sayers I've done this on numerous series and 90/110s with no problems except lifting the bonnet to get at the engine.....I need to fit the spare wheel to the bonnet - can I use a rear door carrier? mainly for cost £500 for the Land Rover mount kit no thanks !! ....also easy availability. has anyone done this? I can't attach it anywhere else as its a pick up and I need the space in back as I have ordered a tonneau cover. at the moment its strapped to the back under the rear windows so has to move.
so if the answer is yes I can - which one do I buy ?

Whatever.Yes it will work, except for one key point...standard bonnets are not reinforced to take the weight of wheel and tyre. It will work but it's a bodge and the bonnet will stress where you don't want your bonnet to stress. There are two types of Land Rover owners out there...those who bodge, and there are many many of these... and those who repair, rebuild and engineer properly. Ultimately, there's a reason why Land Rover reinforced the Military bonnets.

And the third type who think theirs is the only opinion that matters, and there lots of them as well
Lol, reckon I,ve gatecrashed the mutual appreciation societyI’m guessing you fall into that category too?

Despite my Landy looking like someone has jumped all over the bonnet, I have ordered the correct bonnet mounting kit from blanchards - was less than £200 delivered so not too bad, I probably could bodge a door mount on some how by the sounds of it, but the time I would waste getting it right and fabricating bits to do it, I would rather just get the correct kit and have it done in 2 hrs. I like the look of the wheel on the bonnet...my Landy is so reliable I never have to lift the bonnet
Well that's shown yourself up hasn't it.... I haven't resorted to personal abuse as anybody with any intelligence would have taken my comments with a pinch of salt and accepted then with the humour they were intended. No, not really. I have a mutual respect for certain members, that doesn’t extend to someone such as yourself.

Its an open forum and I'll say what I want and you can deal with that as you like.
Without the dished bonnet and with an over sized wheel, what's the view like?I fitted a rear door wheel carrier to my bonnet 12 years ago, its still there doing the job, I used some angle iron under it to strengthen it up a bit but its been fine.
They don't do a dished bonnet for the 90/110.Without the dished bonnet and with an over sized wheel, what's the view like?

Thing is most folk coming on here with questions about fixing stuff want the most straightforward/and quickest to do fix.
Those of us who have messed with Landy's for many years know that just about anything can be fixed, sorted, modified, or completely changed in several ways.
It is just a matter of how much time and effort you want to put inti it.
