Hi,
Group B allows you to tow up to 750kg MAM with ANYTHING, provided the car manufacturer hasn't put a lower limit .....which he probably has, unless car is quite old. The trailer will amost certainly have MAM more that half the kerbweight of the tow car, so will require brakes. For all practical purposes, this is rule irrelevent unless you have an elderly 2CV or Robin.
OR (next paragraph)
Group B allows you to tow anything with an MAM less than the UNLADEN weight of the tow car, but the combination must not exceed 3500kg (Is that combined MAMs , or ULW of car + MAM of trailer? Probably the former. Gosh, they make life difficult). A Disco weighs approaching 2000kgs unladen, which gives you about 1500kg of trailer to play with .....and thats 1500kg MAM. It will be difficult to find a trailer light enough that will carry a Landy without exceeding that. And YOU can't use a Series SWB, cos the trailer MAM will be higher than the S2 ULW.
For all practical purposes, KERBWEIGHT is irrelevent. And 85% of kerbweight is a Caravan Club RECOMENDATION for towing CARAVANS.
What you need is hire a small lorry with unladen weight of about 1000kg and MAM of 3500kg, which will allow you to carry a 2000kg Disco, plus yourself and wife, plus fuel. But I bet there ain't no such animal.
Anybody remember the JENSEN lorry? Built in aluminium to avoid the 20mph limit on 3 ton lorries in the 1950s.
