Can anyone work this out???

Not Landy related but bloody annoying me.
I've got an old pug 305 Diesel estate. It needs new hand brake cables. That's where my problem starts!

No body really makes them any more, but have been given two part numbers for the correct cables and checked it with the relevant manufactures online and managed to find a few on eBay new old stock lingering on the shelves.

The thing is both first line and Quinton hazel spec them to be correct to fit my vehicle, but firstline cables measure 1670mm and Quinton hazel cables measure 1635mm.

Can anyone fathom that out?

Obviously the Quinton Hazell ones are for cars that have been rear ended and are 35 mm shorter.

May be routed different. Get under there with a tap measure or take old ones off and measure. Simples

I'd also reckon it depends where they're measured from. So long as the ends and fitments fit, and the bridle lengths (If it has a bridle arrangement) are the same just route them differently or allow a larger/smaller loop of the main cable.

Cheers guys, yeah the route of them sounds like an obvious one cheers. But because both list as suitable I was expecting the route to be exactly the same.

I was thinking that possibly one has measured purely the cable whilst the other has included the fitting in its total and therefore that 35mm bigger.

I have gone with the longer in any case and if needed to hopefully they could be worked to shorten.

Fingers crossed they do the job.
