Very first problem on mine was the display disappeared - duhh until i found the dimmer switch - suppose it's called a "dimwit":D

Later i've changed out the bulbs as i bought a whole set

I agree completely blank bulbs but faded not good , bit like those early didital watches, I loved the red ones as a boy

FFS! Whether it's back lit wiv little bulbs, an LCD, LED or any other screen, pixals or pixels............

If it int working could it possibly be the power lead??

Hell lets get radical it might even be fused or not earthed proper

Anyone??
The whole instrument binnacle is run from one fuse (F1) including themessage centre illumination lamps.....so if the rest work inculding the Speedo needle, Rev Counter needle, temp and fuel gauges....it is unlikely to be the Fuse.

But Just to add confusion, some of the other the Instrument Illumination Lamps are also controlled through the Interior Lighting and the BeCM....I think that is Fuse 15 for the interior lamps....

I still think it's the Dimmer switch been knocked ;) :D

The fader will only dull lights won't disappear completely bulbs are for back light purposes ie dials if green screen is showing nothing bad connection at multi plug or green display buggerd .

Green screen won't show anything if the back lights are out. Think he had better check that it has not been dimmed then stick some bulbs in it.

How strange when I had mine out the other day checking tow light bulb when plugging in multi plug back in with battery on all bulbs light up including warning and the green screen lights up with lots of strait parallel lines that looks like a bar code would not of thought 3 white bulbs would create that effect more like some sort of LED screen .

Yes there is a test you can do with Nanocom that brings that test up to verify the pixels. That is not the display though message centre can be working perfectly, but without the back lights you cannot see it. Same thing with Hevac screen. No back lights no message.

I'm a very logical chap not disbelief just couldn't work out why a LCD screen would need back light.you can see a digital watch, but in the dark it needs to be back lit I thought being green it was some sort of led screen

There are 3 types of LCD display, transmissive, reflective and transflective. The first requires a light source to be seen, the second can be seen in daylight without a light source, the third can use both back lighting and reflection of daylight to be visible:) LR used the first which is why the displays are all but invisible in sunlight:mad:
