Hi,

On my TD5 D2 the cylinder head is already removed and I want to take the whole block out to fit a new whole engine in. What are the best spots to jack it up? Or should I just fit the old cylinder head back on and use the usual bolts for hoisting it?

Thank you

If you have an engine crane, use the head bolts to secure the chains to the block, either use a balancing beam or alter the chain lengths so that it lifts out straight.

Thanks, I just thought of the head bolts last night. I will do it this way. The engine crane also has another thing - don't know what it's called - that lets you adjust the inclination of whatever you are lifting by moving the centre of gravity.

That does sound like a balancing beam, from what you describe!
Pic would help!;)

It came out a few days ago, now waiting for the new one. I couldn't find a proper bolt to fit the thread of the head bolts at the local shop, so I had to use the head bolts with many many nuts stacked on them. To clear the engine bay, both front wheels had to come off and the axle had to be lowered close to the ground. The car has a 2 inch lift, I think. A balancing beam it is then!

Edit: It was pretty difficult to get it out, as the torque converter assembly is quite long, but I must admit that I didn't do any research beforehand.
