Camshaft sensor P38

Well my new sensor arrived today and I have fitted it what a PITA that was It was all done by feel as the plugs are under the water pump.Jackie came out when I was halfway through and said how’s it going “ I feel like a gynaecologist “ but it’s fitted the car does sound a bit smoother I think ,it could be wishful thinking . Thanks to those that have taken the time to help .I’ll let you all know how it goes .

The ECU will flag a fault, but will probably use default fuel timings, and not try to adjust. It also affect knock sensor operation. There are some posts on various vehicle boards that also mention impact on transmission changes impact, but that depends if the P38 ECU's talk to each other.

Thanks for that pwood999 I’ve changed the sensor now let’s see how it goes ,I’ve got my fingers crossed .There was a cam sensor fault code stored this time also a fault code for the knock sensors which I believe could be connected,time will tell .
