Hello,
Am planning to overland as a family (2 adults 2 children) from UK to Australia 1st April 2010 - I know - long way off - but lots of money, planning and expertise needed. Always had this dream to do it in a Landy - nothing else would fit the bill despite looking and considering for a number of years!!!!!!!!
So far - have completed 2 milestones
1.Bought a landrover 100 300 Tdi CSW (did so 4 months ago after much deliberating - had to get the right one (in superb condition) to fit family of four and lots of gear - don't want to take any risks with children involved.
2. Joined Landyzone today (will be needing lots of help)
Hoping for many happy exchanges and advice and help and support to keep us down to earth in vehicle fit out, mechanics, prep etc.
First tasks include - A) looking at vehicle configuration - e.g. change bench seats behind driver to proper comfy seats for children. But what about sleeping and childrens home school studying and sleeping etc. Look at vehicle security (we have none other than immobiliser at present). Start-up website re: planning, preparation and the journey. Loads to do.

ooooooooh - will start checking out exphedizions area - thank you!
Sense of humus is fine. Thick skin worries me a bit though- feel a bit scared throwing myself into the den of all you crazy people. Please be gentle! Many thanks for kind welcome.

Ha! Ha! - the more the merrier.
Only 25.5 months to go - feels like organising a wedding - venue (the route), cars (the beast), date (1st April 2010) flowers (the bits n pieces), rings (security), invitations (website - yet to be compiled), finance (takes ages to save to hit the required amount needed - which is why we need 2 years).
