Hey, all. I'm buying my 1st 4x4 in the next 6 to 8 weeks. This
vehicle will be my year round daily driver and also will be used for
unimproved PA state forest road all season recreation. This is really
only to get me from point A to point B on these roads so I can get to
a trail head or other destination for whatever I'm going to do. This
vehicle will not be used for any sort of serious 4 wheeling. But it
will definitely be used off road, in snow, and on roads that can be in
pretty crappy shape. I hope this is enough to give a decent idea of
what I'm going to use the vehicle for, and I'll obviously clarify if
that's needed.

Here's what I'm looking at:

2000 or 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport or Classic
2000 or 2001 Chevy Blazer
1999, 2000, or 2001 Isuzu Rodeo

I know I'd be satisfied with one of the Jeeps. My friends have them,
they work great. I'm just thinking that I shouldn't restrict my
search to only the Jeeps. But I don't know much about the Blazers or
the Rodeos - I assume the Blazers are a worthy alternative, but I
don't know if the Rodeo is something to consider, or not. I'm
including these 3 vehicles because they all seem to be available in
the same rough price range for the same model year and mileage.

Is the Rodeo a truck, even? How do the 4 wheel drive systems compare?
What does one look for when looking at a 2000 or 2001 Cherokee? What
different models of Blazers are there? Etc.

I know this is all incredibly general, but hopefully people will think
it's worth responding to, but to help me and to help anyone else out
there who's in the same boat I am.

Thanks!
