Hi guys

I'm currently a Freelander 2 owner and looking at a "proper" Land Rover now I've got the bug. Specifically a 90 station wagon that hasn't been featured on an episode of Pimp My Ride. I'm going to see what looks like a very nice condition TDCI (specifically this one https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-de...cation=at_cars&sort=relevance&postcode=sk56dd).

The seller has informed me there's a bit of lacquer peel on the roof. This doesn't really bother me too much as I'd like to get the roof painted alpine white anyway. He's happy to knock down the cost a bit to factor in the painting - roughly how much would this set me back?

Sorry if asking a question as my first post is against forum rules - looking forward to getting involved in the community!

Welcome :).

It looks nice.
I have no idea of painting costs these days but to do a roof (professionally) is probably near 1k, the seller probably won’t drop that as he obviously doesn’t even know what tyres it has (from description)

Good luck.

J

£550 for a Polo bumper so £1k sounds about right, maybe more. Since the lacquer is pealing it will need taking back to solid paint, windows will need taking out the roof also.

Check for water leaks on the sunroof, also door seals, and most other places come to think of it. Also check the chassis condition, thus can rust badly any where, mostly towards the rear though.
Looks tidy though.

Cheers - yeah the sunroof is something that I’m a bit wary of given their reputation for leaking!

I’ve got an inspection being done by click mechanic tomorrow but have a list of stuff to check myself too. As you say rust is my number one thing to check.

Hoping it isn’t knackered as it looks pretty sweet on the advert..

l had the roof re sprayed on my 90 and my 110
lt wasn't that expensive, £500 each and a great job.
He's done a lot of Land Rovers for the local specialist dealer.
RS Auto in Furness Vale New Mills.
But probably too far from you.

Looks a really nice 90 in one of the best colours.
It will probably need a clutch and gearbox output shaft unless it's already been done. Check for play in the drivetrain on your test drive.
Sadly it's likely to be in the highest rate of road tax, currently £700.
But some slipped though the net, worth checking.

Not far at all as it happens - very much my neck of the woods, I'll check them out thank you!
