Hello folks
I would like your advice please as to the pro's and con's of buying a
w reg Disco 4lt v8 its only for weekend use to take the Dogue's out and
about. Can you work on these cars your self ie oil, filters, plugs or must it
go to a main dealer to be put on there computer? We was looking for a 90
but have seen such a lot of rubbish saw this Disco
es 4lt 1 owner every thing on it new tyres sat nav ect £4500. I know the mpg is going to be low, 12-14 perhaps but it is such a lot of car for
the money , what worries me could i end up paying more a gearbox
or back axle than the car cost us? I know the resale value is crap,
but i intend to retire in 2 years then perhaps buy a 90 rebuild it and stick
the 4lt in it or have i lost the plot?.

you've lost the plot mate - wait till the right 90 comes along

and the way things are going you'd be better orf thinking about putting a wood burner rather than the 4ltr in it unless your bill gates

Hi boycie, don't mean to be disrespectful, but unless you are loooooooaaaaded, buying a V8 Disco fuel muncher to take your dogs out is, well, a bit dumb really.

Find a good tdi 300 diesel 90, you know it makes sense:D ;)

Yep, you've lost the plot. Why by a Disco now, then a 90 in a couple of years. You could get a good 90 now (V8 if you looked about a bit) for what you have to spend, then in a couple of years, when you know it inside out spend your extra lucre doing whatever you want to it, plus you've had 2 years to really think what it is you want out of it.

Mate you buy yourself a Disco if thats what you want. Mind you they are all right about the 4ltr thing. A nice 'comfortable' 300tdi is the way forward, as long as it's not rotten of course.

£4.5k for a Disco ES W reg - get yer bumps felt. I walked away from a really tidy LPG converted W reg at £3.2 as I was gettin me eye wiped. If you go for a Disco V8, make sure it's very low mileage or LPG converted, and don't pay over £3, save the rest for repairs.

90s AND 110S are great wait till you drive one and compare it to a disco. The disco is far better to drive you dont need the window open to drive it

Story so far .set off early this morning with the wife to look at cars, looked at a 90 she does not think the Dogue,s will be comfortable in the back of a 90 when fully grown so no 90.Next we go to look at 110 she drove the car for about a mile hated it ''its like a tractor,''and yes ''the seats to close to the door I cant get comfortable'' next off to Harlow to test drive a V8 disco 2 she loved it could not get out of the drivers seat she liked the noise from the exhaust, liked the driving position, the seats ,not a bad word about the car.We are thinking about it over the weekend, but I think she has set her heart on the disco.

yeah disco v8s are going for reasonable money now.Got lpg?Has your missus got a right elbow? If she has she will never get comfy in a defender!

No LPG on this one might look for at others, but at least i know a disco 2
would suit us.We run a few vans so our fuel bill is un believable at the
moment and i would put the disco down as spare company car
