buying a chassis

ok guys i have another newbie question...im also thinking of buying a chassis of either a 110 or 90 defender to start as a long term project (4.5 years until my eldest can drive lol)... my question is what are the legal issues involved with buying a galvanised chassis advertised as new and an existing chassis fom a vehicle that has been dismantled?
would the latter require documents of vehicle it came from ?
would the galvanised chassis be like building a new car so would require it to be registered with DVLA not sure what i need to be looking out for????

help would be greatly appreciated chaps ;-]

you can just fit a new galv chassis ,it doesnt effect car status, but building a car out of parts is a different matter

ok im guessing from the answers I'm getting I'm being a tad nieve lol
so its best to either start with a new chassis (or one with relevant v5 and vin) or a complete car requiring strip down and restore?
random ebay sellers of rolling chassis etc not stating they have relevant paperwork are to be avoided? thanks for your patience

Just sourcing the separate parts in time, shipping and mileage (if you collect )will make it way more expensive than buying a complete running vehicle and stripping and rebuilding it.

It's a lot of parts to find

you could always buy a complete banger, then transfer the parts bit by bit, replacing what's worn to a new galv chassis

This is probably the cheapest one you'll ever see and he's already taken 1/2 of it to bits

Better to start with something like this as all the little bits you need but would be a PITA to source separately would be with it

Also bear in mind 90% of it will be pretty much the same as every defender up to the puma
