Section 40A Road Traffic Act 1988 as amended by the Road Traffic Act 1991 states: “a person is guilty of an offence if he uses, or causes or permits another to use, a motor vehicle.... on a road when.... the condition of the vehicle..., or of its accessories or equipment.... is such that the use of the motor vehicle.... involves a danger of injury to any person.”

i'd have thought that covered every vehicle on the road. seeing as how contact with a moving vehicle usually results in some injury.

Probably! Like I said if you get an arsey cop he can use it to give you a fixed penalty. and we all know how much they like giving those out. It's why I said make em removable, Which isn't difficult just needs a small screwgate shackle on one end and a turnbuckle on the other. Which is what I'll be doing with mine

arsey cops eh!

i had home made eggghost on me trams am, they exited just in front of the rear wheels. plod pulls me and tells me they was illegal.. i pointed out the van just down the road with a factory fitted eggghost exiting in the same place. so he comes back with chrome ones are hotter and therefore illegal. i got back in me car and drove orf.

if he'd bothered to listen he might have noticed that it dint have no boxes on it and wur a tad noisy , like yer might expect from a near on 7 litre v8

that's a new un on me slob mate..

as i alway thought mild steel needed less heat than chrome or stainless to manipulate it..

hence meaning a standerd exoorst would in theory heat up quicker than yer chrome or stainless one's and since both will only ever get as hot as the gas's passing through they would both eventually reach the same temp just at different rate's?

well you learn something new everyday and we all know pleasemen know everything about everything including thermodynamic's :D

I was in B&Q today and just out of interest. I had a look at the cost of buying the eyebolts, shackles, wires, turnbuckles etc. and I reckon it'll cost about £25 to make a pair of bushwires up yerself.

Dun the ones on my deepender frum there fer around that, bit less mebbe. Only fitted them cuz I lost half a screen on me old Series to a branch.

They did do the job, but they got in the way so much when yer doing any kind of injun work that I'd rather replace my screen if it got whacked that hard agin.

I know, I know, you could tek them off when yer need ter lean over the wings......................but yer just don't!

I have a couple of dozen 6 to 8 foot lengths of plastic coated steel wires with eyes one end and shackle & bottlescrews on the other.

I have no idea what they were, but they are like new, and just the job for DIY "bushwires" .

Free for the taking away.

I could TNT them anywhere for about £20 or so.

Takers?

Thas a bargin iss tha!
Yer can stick a cupple on me pink series an post it to me!

I love you uncle charlesY xxxxxxxxxx:D

I have a grill that hinges on the screen pivots and lays down on top of the spare wheel when not in use, main purpose is to act as a catcher, if something lets go whilst winching :)

Oi I bagged em 1st but if charlesy wants he can hang onto a couple jist fer you.

Now now girls and boys ..... no squabbling .... let's decide this properly ...
.... so I will give them to the one who's the prettiest of the two of you.

There are sixteen of them, about 9 feet long, multi-stranded galvanised 6mm diameter steel rope, white plastic coated to 8mm OD, a nice galv steel eye on one end, and a bottle screw on the other, and some of them have a shock absorber on the end! Bees' Bollocks I can tell you, just sitting here doing damn all.

OK .... one pair in the Pink Landy for HBG (dream on ...!) and the rest in a cardboard box for redhand, who can PM me his address or send an email (My Darling HBG has my email address natch ...). TNT will charge me about £15 to deliver anywhere in GB-Land. Give me the address, and I will ship them Monday, and we can worry about the TNT costs later.

Ignoring what Mr Plod was saying, I believe that the difference between the van & your Trans Am is the relationship between the end of the exhaust and the rear most passenger seat.

On thinking about it, I'm not sure how that works with buses!

Unfortunately not, although I mat be remembering wrong. I've just done a quick Google and failed to find the C&U regulations, but I'm sure I read somewhere that to reduce the danger of poisoning your passengers the exhaust should exit behind the seats.
There seem to be lots of exceptions, but I can't think of any non-commercials with the exhaust (as standard) any further forward.

Remember this originally came up as an excuse to Mr Plod to stop you, it makes more sense than a chrome exhaust being hotter!
