my 90 has had these bush wires on it since I've had it and it's been through two MOTs with them on and nobody has said anything about them... who says they're illegal?

PLOD and the road traffic act Under which it is illegal to fit any item to a motor vehicle which is likely to be injurious to a 3rd party.

& why oh why do peeps think, because an MOT tester has given their car a mot certificate. Then everything fitted to it must be legal. There is nothing in the mot testers manual to cover bushwires. therefore he can not fail the car for having them fitted.

hmmm - although I don't honestly think two pieces of wire are going to make any difference to anyone who gets hit by my 90 - given the bonnet level is so high with 3 inch lift and 35 inch simex they'll be going under it not up and over into the bush wires...

I reckon the wires are a bit pointless anyway - they make no difference to me with the kind of off-roading mine gets - maybe useful in a jungle though

Anyone no who sells em ?

Buy the bits from B&Q it's cheaper than getting a kit off ebay or getting shafted by one of the 4x4 parts suppliers.

But this might be of interest before you fit them.

The Road Vehicle Construction and use 1986 regulation 100, a motor vehicle and all its accessories will at all times be kept in a condition so that no danger is caused to any person in or on a vehicle or on the road:

Just found this bit as well

Section 40A Road Traffic Act 1988 as amended by the Road Traffic Act 1991 states: “a person is guilty of an offence if he uses, or causes or permits another to use, a motor vehicle.... on a road when.... the condition of the vehicle..., or of its accessories or equipment.... is such that the use of the motor vehicle.... involves a danger of injury to any person.”

they are so ****e I wouldnt bother my arse with the expense or the hassle of fitting them. If they were of any practical use, trust me, I would have fitted them by now :D

Local guy has a Camel 110 that was built with wires.... He has written letters from VOSA and the local plod saying it is OK IF original equipment.

Bush cables or limb risers in US. Electrical wholesalers are the best bet as they are catenary wires with a few swivels and brackets. Check www.discovery2.co.uk for a parts list and fitting instructions. They are pretty useless but do look the part. If they're good enough for camel trophy who are we to argue :)
