Ok thanks everyone lots of good information there didn't even consider sockets exploding in the press
Going for a 12 ton press should be more than adequate to press in new bushes once cleaned up also going to stick the Bush in freezer overnight.
Got one side out absolute pig front rubber Bush had split and compressed till it was flush with the side of all three fixing bolts had to cut and beat the sockets on even then had to use a crow bar and club hammer to get it out also made my 75m extension into a aniseed twist joy I have the other side to do yet oh well onward :DView attachment 223460 View attachment 223461 View attachment 223462
Blimey, I suppose that's something else I've got to look forward too ! How many/what bushes have you got to replace ?

At the moment just the rear lower link but more to look forward too
Picked out a 12 ton press but won't have anywhere to store it and a bench press is just silly money but I have seen Bush press kits on ebay in a blown case would solve the problem of storage are these any good

Yes the blown case ones are quite good, I bought one specifically to change the upper knuckle on my D3, did it with ease, though to be fair I would say this is an easier bush to remove/fit than std metalastic ones, but I reckon it will do the job.

This is the one I got, there are cheaper ones, but Gary aka @gstuart recommended this one so thats what I bought.

Ive got a similar set... Worth its weight in gold when pressing in and pushing out a multitude of stuff... Very handy as well for pushing in rubber seals, as you can get a perfect size to push them in....

Ok thanks I'll go for one of those kits would suit my needs best.
took it to my local tyre fitting garage to get it pressed in and they used flat plates top and bottom so the inner sleeve is now crushed,distorted and completely f**ked

F:mad::mad:king annoyed from Braintree.

What you will find regardless of press and pressures is sometime the press will reach its max and the bush will refuse to move, a smart tap on the outside of the bush holder/radius/panhard arm etc will jar the thing into motion, makes a scary bang though!
