Ive got a few issues with Freelander 2002 , hopefully all minor issues , as I pull away at low speed usually after reversing , I get a short bang at the back , this happened years ago on my series 3 and it was a broken spring on the shoe , any other ideas? , I havent looked yet also if this is the case could this trigger the HDC warning light , im assuming its not rubbing as ive just driven 200 miles and there was no smoke etc , on the series 3 I just turned the shoe adjuster on the back of the wheel to get the drum off, is it the same process ? Thanks in advance

If you're that concerned about you brakes, you should strip them down and check them.

I'd have thought that if the drums won't come off without moving the adjuster, the drums are worn down and you need to replace them.

Likely to be the rear diff mounts though.

Had a thud on mine low speeds first and second gears and it was the diff mounts as Gg said replaced them last week for the polybush ones.

Ive replaced one side 3 weeks ago to get it through the Mot , the other 2 seem solid , ill give them a shake tommorow and have a further look , the one was easy enough

Ok , ive just checked the centre diff mount and it's bouncing around like Barbara Windsor Carry on Camping , ive ordered a new one but I'm on holiday and have a 200 mile trip to complete first , ( motorways) is this a major issue , I'm assuming this is where vibration is coming from also , can I replace centre without moving 2 rear , 2 rear ones were simple once the bolts were loosened.

I had to remove the main bolts in the two rear ones to get enough room to get it in and out it’s a right bugger to do wouldn’t like to try it without doing it,you will top your swear jar up.
