Bulkhead to Upper Dash Series 3

I don't want to use Duct Tape, but can anyone help me identify the type of Tape used in these photos?





It's a sort of thick Vinyl Tape, but I cannot find a reference to it anywhere for love or money. Naturally, I am restoring and hoping to get as close back to the original as possible, I also wondered if there was a purpose of this strip of tape; waterproofing, electrical, insulation, noise control. wind, or all of the mentioned.

As always, all help hugely appreciated.

Cosmetic only, use 3M duck tape.

that is a type of cloth tape the texture on the top you can just see is cloth. They call it gaffa tape.

Thank's Tony, That's great... There's been a bit of discussion over at the 'other forum' - I have to agree with your recommendation. It's Gaffer Tape...

Lots of people suggested that there should be nothing here, but another user confirmed with a photo that their Bulkhead had the same tape as mine - so happy to know it was factory-fitted.

I am going to use Gaffer Tape and not Duck Tape.
