Any recomendations for a good place to repair and galve my S2 bulkhead, South East would be good, the couple I have found all seem to be up north.

andover landrover now called town and country 4x4 I think, refurb, make new,. galv etc

I got a toprail for the s1 from an outfit in Birmingham that also advertise on ebay, seem to be a good bunch.

Just phoned town and country, £1200 plus vat plus carriage. Is the place in Birmingham classic bulkheads? If so they have quoted £950 with a four month wait doesn't include collection/delivery.

classic bulkheads, that's the one, got the impression it was a small outfit when I spoke to them on the phone, can't fault the top rail they sent me, got it within a couple of days but I think its the sort of thing they can probably knock up quickly or maybe make a batch of then make another when they are nearly gone

Been talking with I guy that's been waiting nearly six months to get his back from them, and not replying to his calls or emails.

oh surprised to hear that, just shows you can't tell an organisation from only one persons experience, maybe they are too busy making top rails.

I selected them third, first I tried two popular and recommended outfits on the s1 forum, one didn't pick up their mobile or main line, the second answered my first question by pm but not the second, I phoned classic and they answered my questions, placed the order Friday afternoon and it was with me on the Wednesday.

how bad is your bulkhead though?

learning to weld and doing it yourself is also an option, that's what I plan to do. What you save in someone elses labour should pay for the kit and you have a useful new skill, apparently you can pick up basic mig welding in an hour then its just practice

Got all the gear and done some very basic welding not sure of my skill levels for a job like this. I'm going to get it blasted next week to see the extent of the rust then ask a friend who's brilliant at welding for some advice. Thing is it's got to go back spot on and if I cock up that's the bulkhead gone, I am tempted to give it a go, some one quoted it at around 30 hours work I'm no expert but that seems an awful lot of time.

The actual welding time is only a few hours, 30 hours seems reasonable to me. Remember all the time is in cutting out and fitting new panels/making pieces to repair odd areas.

plenty of resto threads on here showing what to do, sams at the top of the page, and johnny curts - if you can find it - was excellent.

if you get all the prep done any new panels like footwells door pillars etc maybe your mate will weld it up for a few beer tokens.
