had a smiddy weld up my bulk head with new footwells and a couple of replacement pieces for the top around the vents and now it is a bolt hole out when i try and put it on!!!!:eek::eek:

Can i pull it out at the bottom or is there a better way?? please help i haven't done anything to the old girl in 8 months and first thing i try is fubar!!!!!!!

Sorry for your troubles... You might need to 'un-weld' around the toeboards a bit to give yourself the room to stretch the A posts out until they match the holes then re weld. Good idea to make a jig to hold the vital dimensions before you start welding on a job like this.

I have had enough, just bit the bullet and booked it into Strathearn engineering to have it finished thats it coming up to 3 years now and i want to drive it before i die!!!

I know but the way I look at it I have already spent a lot on it to get it where it is
  • Gearbox rebuilt
  • Engine refurbished
  • Chassis galvanised & painted
  • New suspension
  • All new brake components
  • And all put together
If I don’t get it finished soon it will all seize and rust up so just get on with it and save up once it’s finished to repay the savings I spent on it.

See what you mean... you're in for a pound alright.

It's seemingly not unusual to need to make the bulkhead fit by using several washers as spacers and the use of ratchet straps.

I hope you get her on the road soon and, most importantly, enjoy her.

Strathern will do a good job but they’re expensive. Quoted me £1300 to do the footwells in my landy in the end I went to GEMM 4x4. When I picked it up the bulkhead relative to my drivers door is out by an inch.

As others have said, you just have to push pull shove jack until it is where you want it. The bottom is where most problems occur.
A long time ago I went on a tour of the Land Rover factory and there were some beefy blokes doing just that.

There's a time to pay to get a job done. I hate paying but I've recently done just that to finish a property, after 6 months with me making no progress I wrote a large check and 4 weeks later its was done. I now always pay a local mobile mechanic to help me with the heavy jobs, he's reasonable, huge, and we gone in a few hours what I would drag out to a week of evenings.

Measure the foot mounting bolt holes centres at both sides of the bulkhead should be 59.25" ,if one pillar has twisted with heat of weld that will throw it out ofline.
