Hi folks,
Has anyone changed the bulkhead curved centre panel, the part between the footwells over the gearbox.
Apart from being bent up at the bottom it has lots of holes and self tapping screws through it.
I thought it might be easier to replace it than weld all the holes up and straighten it.

Cheers

330069 is quite expensive, I would repair if poss or replace if you have £150 to spare, mine has a Land Rover black cover on to reduce the noise which goes over gearbox tunnel too.

I mean the flat panel that is curved at the bottom which the transmission tunnel bolts to. It has I believe the hole for the hand throttle.

Not available as far as I know so you will have to weld it. Not a section that is in bad order generally as engine oil tends to cover the other side.

No problem welding it, Just have to find where to make the cut.
It's just that it has unwanted old screw holes in it and being bent, you never get it straight again unless you are an epert.
A new piece of steel would look so much better.
I just wondered if it had been done by anyone.

I'd be looking at a hammer, dolly and some stick on sound-proofing. I wouldn't assume it would be flatter after welding, it could bow all over the place.

I took it off the chassis to do some cleaning up in an awkward spot for welding and noticed there had been a rubber type glue spread over the inside in places. So it must have had some soundproofing in the past.
I gave it a straighten up clamped between a couple of chunks of wood and a hammer and dolly. Still a bit bent but not to worry.

My series has a bit on hardboard there it’s coverd in black leather looking material it does help deaden the sound, just self tapped on in the 4 corners , it’s original fit Land Rover
