Evening all.
This is probably a stupid question, but, are the A pillars part of the bulkhead or a separate item?
Just wanted to know if I need to cut them out to fit into a new bulkhead, or if they will be part of a new bulkhead?

Trying to clear some space and the old one needs to go!

Yes, as a replacement, bloody expensive I think?
But as I'm buying a new bulkhead, I was going to repair the ones I have. Unless of course a new bulkhead comes with them already fitted?
I'm confused!

They are a separate item, but welded on, if that makes any sense.
The bulkhead is made of quite a number of separate pressings, which are welded together to make the whole.

The door pillars are available to replace, which is quite a simple job if you are good at MIG welding, but will come fitted to a new bulkhead, because you can't fit the bulkhead without the pillars. The bracket at the bottom of the pillars on either side are the only points at which the bulkhead attaches to the chassis, by means of two large bolts.

What ever you do don't scrap the bulkhead. It looks very saveable if you have basic fabrication and welding skills.
 
I'll stick it up for sale then.
I'm no fabricator and the thought of un galvanised steel on the sea front does not appeal to me. Especially on something like a bulkhead.
 
I am in Poole Dorset, I rebuilt a bulkhead a few years ago I bought the parts from here, were good quality then. https://yrmit.co.uk/product-category/series-2-3-swb/
I also bought a mig welder which I practised on for a few weeks before attempting the actual job. Very pleased with the outcome. I fitted the old bulkhead in the correct position before starting to maintain the measurements and did one part at a time. After completing I had is shotblasted then galvanised. Plenty of photos on here of nasty bulkheads. good luck. Peter
