Found whilst browsing the WHO picture archive because my day job is researching tropical medicine!

If anyone can find any more Landy pics in that archive I'd be interested to see them.

Caption: A mobile truck trap used to collect mosquitos flying outdoors.

Just a couple of things that struck me as strange.

"A mobile truck"
(ignoring the whole truck debate) what would be the point in a non-mobile truck?

"collect mosquitos flying outdoors"
Isint that where you usuly find mossies flying outside?

Ah, now, the thing is they do come indoors. If they had some respect fer private property yer wunt need to sleep unner a mozzie net.

Indeedy. The females (for it is they that thirst for your blood) come inside, nibble you when you are asleep and then go have a rest on the walls of your room. At which point they hit the insecticide you have sprayed on your walls, and then its one dead mozzie. However there's still several billion left, and if that one has just given you malaria its not much comfort.

I think the 'mobile' bit of the truck trap tells us that they drive along catching mozzies as they go, rather than sit there waiting for them.

I fkn hate the little feckers. Spent several years in India & I think they viewed me as a foreign delicacy. They'd all flock 'round, little bastids. Ooo, they love a good 'English'.

yer obviously wint drinking enough... in OZ the little bastids was making a reet meal outta me? then i started drinking more VB as its cheaper and easier to find than water, thay dint bite after that unless i wint tea total fer a day or so.
