Hi,

Whilst finishing off a 2" body lift on my 300TDi and I was using the gas torch to heat up one of the body mount bolts that was being a pig. Well I switched it off and noticed I'll got flames from above. But by the time I had got the fire extinguished and noticed that i had burnt through both the plastic diesel pipes. I can join them back together if i new how. Not like metal petrol pipes that you can put a hose the jubilee clips onto! So what does one do?

Cheers

John

get piece of copper pipe that that nearly fits in the pipe and then put the plastic ends(after cleanin them up) in boiling water to soften em up and then force in the plastic about 2" and do the same with the other side,it should then be i shrink fit and all bein well be diesel tight.

Push fits onto copper pipes will leak, either diesel OUT or air IN, or both depending on which will annaoy you most at the time.

Measure the pipes and they will be either 8mm or 10mm diameter, probably 8mm. and probably black quite hard plastic.

Get to a compressed air fitter's place and ask for some 8mm PUSH FIT INLINE CONNECTORS, and some 8mm plastic pipe while you are at it.

My TD5 is running with one of these in the high pressure feed pipe at 60 psi. Your 300 tdi will always be in suction all the way to the lift pump.

These push-fit connectors are amazing.
