Disco 2 Broken wheel stud

Hi all, just having a clean up & paint when I found the head had gone off one of front (hub)wheel studs, is this typical, is it a case of knocking it back through & can you get a new one in if I move it to the 12 o clock position & remove the ABS sensor?
Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks for that at least I know I can get the stud ! So I'll try some gentle heat & a large knocking stick or cut it off flush & drill the rest

. Then grind a taper/flat on the new stud.

Well stud came out with minimal heat & little hammering. Just a case of moving the hub to 12 o clock then when I get the new stud grind taper or flat to fit

. May have dodged a bullet here !

Once it in the hole and lined up on the spline it should pull in with a nut on a a spacer or two, a little grease wont go a miss

Thanks for that, do you know if you have to grind much off the new one to fit it ? I'm a bit loath to take any off it but at the same time don't want to strip the hub to fit it, due to lack of the Mother of all torque wrenches.

You just need a new stake nut and your own body weight on a decent length breaker bar.
Plus the maths obvs to work out where to stand on the breaker bar when tightening it up!
1 lb at 1 foot = 1 lb ft
2 lb at 1 foot = 2 lb ft
etc etc.

if you needed to remove any metal from the new ones flatten them they would have been made that way, they should fit perfect as bought, I have fitted new once in the past I did remove the hub and just knocked them in with a lump hammer
if your going to pull the through just don't use your wheel nuts, get hold of a few steel wheel nut long body ones if you can put it on with the chamfer out, and make sure you have at least half the thread to grip on, more if you can just use steek washers to het a the right amount of pull, you can always take the nut off and add more washers to continue pulling it through,
