Hi folks.
3 of my glow plugs are dead in my 04 so i managed to get 3 out including a working one and then snapped the plug in the port.
I managed to drill it and started threading it with a 4 mm tap and bang the tap snapped so now i cant attempt to drill it and pull it out.
The main threaded part is out its just the tip thats lodged.
Someone said push it in and retrieve with a magnet via the injector port but i am not confident about that.
I guess i might be away to look up a head removal video??
Any advice is welcome thanks.

First I'd tap it right though, in to the chamber, then recover it through the injector hole as suggested. Make sure the injector comes out first and set that piston down the bore far enough so it doesn't get damaged. I have a magnet on a flexible shaft for recovering such things from unacceptable places.
 
Could you remove the injector, drop the piston to BDC, injector back on, use the starter motor to pop the tip out?

Been at it for hour with a tiny magnet i have in the garage but no luck.
Fairly gutted as i was so close to getting it done (decoked everything and blanked egr)
Looks like a garage job
 
The tip is sitting on top of the piston pak and i spent 3 hours trying different magnets and wire etc to try and fish it out.
Resorted to beer and whiskey whih is helping
 
Thanks guys but i only have a 6mm hole to work with so neither will fit.
Its looking like a head off job for someone as I aint got time to do it
 
I have but i am having no luck so far.
Tried compressed air, hoover and magnets with no luck.
7mm injectir hole is a bit ticht.
Silly question but whats the best way of manually turning the engine by hand as i want to try with the piston at different heights cheers.

Having a break and then one more go with the hoover then its back to work tomorriw and forget about if for a few days.
I bought the motor with the intention of fishing and shooting and not spending much on it so will see if i can get someone in Aberdeenshire to do a head off homer as i am not experienced with cams, chains etc.
I am liable to bugger that up too lol.
Begs the question why dont manufacturers make larger bodied glow plugs to combat this constant hassle people have removing the noodly little sh!ts of things.

I have a 6mm diameter camera (about £8 from eBay) that does fit in the glow plug hole. It plugs into my phone to give me instead visibility inside holes and stuff.
I also have a 4 claw grabbing device which does fit in the injector hole. With this combination of tools I have recovered broken glow plug tips and a spark plug electrode from engines.
