P38A broken EAS compressor piston

Anyone had an EAS compressor piston break? It's a first for me. Stopped at Membury services and, on planning to leave, starter didn't operate. Suspected starter motor, RAC man confirmed starter motor, recovered home (nice petrol saving :)). Spent 8 hours swapping out a perfectly serviceable starter motor ( I know, but that top bolt...). Then, and only then, checked this forum, discovered the relationship between the starter motor and the EAS compressor (maxi fuse 2) and discovered brown goo oozing from the compressor. And stripping down, broken piston....

I was debating whether to repair it. I have a feeling that the windings have broken down as it doesn't run with the piston removed. However it is work in progress. Thanks the eBay link. I'm tempted, but the price of the conrod, relative to a refurbished pump doesn't really make it cost effective. It be possible to do a mix and match in future though with another faulty pump.
