Hello all,

Driver's side (left) door lock is broken on my 1984 110. Open/close
functions fine (inside and outside handles), the door can be
locked/unlocked from the inside, but the key barrel just spins in the
sleeve. When I took it off the door, the relevant stub of metal fell
out of the lock mechanism. Is it possible to mend this, or do I have to
replace the whole thing? How much is one?

Ta,
Stuart

I'm not sure which bit you mean, but if it's this bit:
___________
__| |
--> |__ | <- key
|___________|

you just need a new barrel & key:

RTC3022 Lock Set - Barrel And 2 Keys - Push Button Doors & Rear
Door to 1A622423 & Locking Fuel Cap from AA259679 to WA159806
£3.41 inc VAT

if it's from inside the latch then, apart from a stiff drink, a lie
down in a darkened room and a re-mortgage, it could be:

MUC6980 Door Latch - LH - Defender from AA2424962 to AA270226
£182.12 inc VAT

if it's a 1-piece door after the 1984 facelift, or if it's a 2-piece
door it could be:

MUC1029 Door Latch - Front LH - LHD - Non-Slam Type -
No Internal Door Pull - Defender to August 1986
£36.42 inc VAT

or

MUC1031 Door Latch - Front LH - RHD - Slam Type - No Internal Opener -
Defender to August 1986
£56.40 inc VAT

or even

MUC1033 Door Latch - Front LH - LHD - Non Slam Type - With Internal
Opener - Defender to August 1986
£pend

or then again...

MUC1035 Door Latch - Front LH - RHD - Slam Type - With Internal
Opener - Defender to August 1986
£32.90 inc VAT
