Pumping the brake pedal should depressurise the hydraulics, I don't know of any other way. If you got the accumulator off, there could not have been any hydraulic pressure in the system.Hi everyone.ive got a 96 P38 4ltr gems and I can't depessurerise my brakes by pumping the brake pedal.can I do it with Hawkeye or is there a other way of doing it please help if you can thanks have tryd unplugging the accumulator without any luck thanks
Thanks for replying.the front brakes get very hot that hot as one as the Paint bubbling have changed the calipers pads and discs and the Flexi pipe .I changed the accumulator about 9 months ago and think it started then I now won't to bleed the system to see if that's helps but I can't depessurerise the brakes by pumping the pedal.the pedal just goes rock hard I'm hoping someone can helpPumping the brake pedal should depressurise the hydraulics, I don't know of any other way. What is the actual problem? Is it brakes locked on?
Are you sure? It's been a while so i could be wrong but I'm sure mine went very softIf the pedal goes rock hard that normally means that the pressure has gone.
Pretty sure there was long travel and a soft pedal on mine with no pump,Are you sure? It's been a while so i could be wrong but I'm sure mine went very soft
Vacuum assisted brakes would go hard
Rave says the pedal should go soft and it's always gone soft beforeIf the pedal goes rock hard that normally means that the pressure has gone.
That's what I am trying to do depessurerise the system then rebleed itHas the brake fluid ever been changed? If not I would start by doing a complete fluid change bleeding according to the procedure in RAVE, Brake fluid is hygroscopic and moisture in the fluid can result in mal functioning brakes.
+1 on minePretty sure there was long travel and a soft pedal on mine with no pump,
As per my other post, i think if you let pressure out of the calipers, you might be able to pump the pedal more and get to the real problemThat's what I am trying to do depessurerise the system then rebleed it
Will do and get back to you all thanks for the helpUndo all the caliper bleed nipples and see what comes out. I suspect there may be a problem with the modulator often caused by old brake fluid.

Might cause overheating brakes but not the problem the OP has with not being able to depressurise the brakes.Slide pins causing caliper to bind on?
More likely to cause uneven pad wearMight cause overheating brakes but not the problem the OP has with not being able to depressurise the brakes.
