Please help..i know I'm new and asking a few questions but this ones driving me mental..ok my brakes are not the best but passed mot on rolling road..When I brake I can hear a grinding noise that I think is coming from the front.Checked pads (PLENTY LEFT ON THEM)..its not like metal to metal sound and not always there..9 times out 10 it is though. The car is useable but the brakes are not sharp.Think it might be a wheel bearing problem. How can I check the bloody thing as it is 4 wheel drive..i cant just spin the wheel ..lol..pretty sure its from the front aswell, cant see any sign of metal grinding...HELP !..many thanks in advance

Do as GG said to spin the wheels.

You could check the brake splash shields aren't catching on the discs. Also check the caliper slide pins are free to move. If stuck, they will affect brake performance.
Oh and the Freelander should have it's brakes tested on a road test, using a Tapley meter. It shouldn't go on the rolling road because it's AWD.
