Hi bit new here I've a 1997 disco1 "premium" what ever that means apart from a lot to go wrong!:) What I wanted to know is, and I know it's been metioned on here before, when you take the brake vacuum pump off how essential is it that the engine is at TDC. I have an oil leak coming from it and the repair looks straight forward, is it a job for a novice with spanners?

cheers

Gary

Just rotate the engine by hand until thecam lobes are as far back from the plunger as that can be it will make the job alot easier

The holding bolts are long enough to squeeze the pump at any point, so not necessary

but as been said, it is easier to turn the engine by hand to reduce pressure than it is to tighten the bolts up

your choice
