NO!

what i meant is that there is a limit that an amateur wants to spend on a tool that is rarely used, that doesnt, necessarily, mean they have to compromise on quality - just on life.

thats why i said "without spending silly money" - I reckon £50 for an occasional use brake flare kit - whot do yu guys reckon?

if you can find a Moprod Easyflare they'll be about that money - very simple, easy to use and can be used on the vehicle - don't think they've been made for the last 20 years

is like any tool, buy cheap buy twice .....

Agreed - for professional use - but if yu are only likely to be using it half as much as a professional, then it evens out;).

i've got a cheap flare tool, I'll gladly lend you it and one of the 220s and let you decide which one you'd prefer - the quality of the flares alone should convince you

hence me offering to do flares for free for people considering buying a cheap tool

Okay, have ordered the pipe and decided to cut the lengths then take to a motor factors for flaring.
Can anyone confirm the pipe end connector size? Not sure whether they are metric and can't check until I get home Friday - would like to get some ordered in the meantime..
Thanks!

graham before you go any further do a search for ''brake pipes'' and have a read of my old thread,i asked pretty much the same as you and a very helpfull TEFLON put a link up for a tutorial he made, see what you think.

Good read - bookmarked!

I HAVE moprod flaring tool i bought in 1980 ,it fits in the vice ,put pipe in then two ops .op 1 for male flare op2 for female flare.I usuually use copper brake piping that way you only make em once,i always make sure the tool is lubricated so it doesnt tear the copper pipe it makes superb flares
if i remember rightly it was @£25 in 1980 even then it was inexpensive......dave
