Brake pedal stays depressed

Hi,

I'm currently in the process of bringing my 2A back to life, it was last on the road in 2009, next on my hit list are the brakes, the problem I have is that after applying the brakes, the pedal stays depressed (and the brakes still on). If I hook my foot under the pedal and pull it back out the brakes release. Is this just a case of the spring on the pedal no longer being man enough or is it symtomatic of a mastercylinder problem?

hi I had this problem & it was the pivot pin that goes through the pedal had seized, knocked the pin out cleaned & regreased it & fitted a new return spring problem solved, hope this helps you

The pivot also has an oil bolt in it this can be replaced with a grease nipple to make lubricating it easier. 1/4" unf .
