Hi all ,
Needed to do work on front brakes today only to discover a gorilla had worked on them previously and rounded off the 13mm star MP heads using a vise grips or something , and I can 't remove them now. any good suggestions please ? Was thinking of welding something on to the bolts to undo them but afraid of heat damage to other parts .Any ideas.
Thanks

1/2" multipoint socket fits better, you probably knacked them using the 13mm.
Oh, this is on my 86 110, disco may be different..

I meant a 1/2 AF (imperial size) socket NOT 1/2" drive.
A 13mm socket will round them off if they are tight.
I'll post a picture up in a bit for you if I can remember how.

Bottom pic shows the 1/2 " size, top pic shows the 12 point business end.

Thanks Flossie I have one of these 1/2 AF and tried to use it , but some sod was there before me and knackered the heads, some of them are pure round . Brake pads are almost new so rust may not be too big a problem..

Hi Flat ,
Wheel bearing needs replacing . Tried the welding cant get enough leverage to open even using 2LB lump hammer. Too little space in there to operate , will have to do partial corner strip down to make space.Ordered new bolts anyway.Looks like someone used an air tool to lock them up and chewed the old bolt heads . I cant get enough leverage to open .
What size socket would I need using the Irwin tool as these heads are bad and ultra tight. ?

Got the bolts out ...
I made room by removing brake pipe and a steering rod used a 14mm spanner and welded it good . Then a good bang with the 2LB hammer it opened ....then removed welded spanner and welded on a 13mm nut and wound bolts out.
I think heads were beyond the Irwan tool as they were more like round 12mm pipe .
I checked all the other callipers and they are perfect
Thanks everybody for help.
