Hi everyone

I put a post up the other day about the tapping in the engine, the garage has come back and said the bottom end bearing has gone. Do you know of this is something that can be rectified or is it best just to replace the engine?

Bottom end & tapping noises are usually quite different. Also these daysmany garages cannot be bothered with sorting engine issues, so often tell customers "replace engine" !!

A place I used to get MOT's done took my mates FL1 1.8 petrol engine out, and sent it away just for a head gasket change. We don't use that garage anymore !!

They said the bottom end bearing had gone which is creating the noise and its worn a space which means if replace could end up with the noise again shortly afterwards
