Boomslang Loom

Right bought a Boomslang Wiring loom from paddocks last week and wired it up today.

Can see a clear difference and when its up close the yellow tint you some times have goes. Only gripe is the loom could be longer as the relays are currently cable tied to my steering resevior and I snapped the earth cable on the l/h side as you look at it. Will look at extending the loom.

So as you look at it l/h side normal loom r/h side boomlsnag loom . Clear difference .

Thought I would share incase any bodies thinking about it

Cheers one of my wagons in ma hanger. Mate the loom is short. I have full wipac bowels so needed every cm of the loom. Going to look at extending it as having the relays under the steering reservoir just isn't happening

Ok thanks, I'll plan on extending.....luckily I have some spare loom and some crimps and some adhesive lined heatshrink.....dam shame to have to do it to a new loom but what the hell....want to. get it done this weekend

The good news is I got my MOT today after 2 years of a partial rebuild....nothings going to ruin this good mood

Mate someone commented on my Facebook about this and said his loom was long enough. You never know maybe I was unlucky. But i'm still going to sort mine out

Fitted one of these at the weekend - massive difference.

I'd swear the dash lights are slightly brighter too (now that that part of the loom isn't drawing any where near as many amps as it was..)

How did you get over the 'no flash on dip beam' issue? - if yours has dim-dip that is..

Hi vinny, been looking up on these and wondered why they made the lights shine brighter, is it just because its new wire that lets the current flow better?

it all works on less volts drop, shorter/thicker wire run as opposed to the existing wire run from battery -switch- lights.
if you measured voltage at the lights with factory set up then with new relay set up you should see the difference in volts, ie more volts with relays.
more volts = brighter lights.

i made up my own from scratch with 2 relays and ceramic bulb holders. yea easy enough. took a live feed from starter motor via a fuse to relays mounted on the heater box. just make sure you use thick cable 2 or 2.5 mm and i made new earth points.

Good info guys. I'm a bit behind cos my 1983 110 has been having an ongoing engine rebuild/eventual swap issue....but now it's back on the road I've remembered how crap the lights are!!! I've bought halogen upgrade (couldn't quite justify LED's....Santa said "no"!) and the Boomslang harness. Check out the harness...male H4 connector to start it all off. I've got the old bullet connectors and was just planning on cutting them off and putting female connectors on. Any thoughts? Am I missing something or just being paranoid after not having my Landy for about 5 years!!!

In fairness guys those relays should be in a protective water proof box, like in the cab or battery box.

Just fitted the boomslang today, will have to wait until Monday morning when I go to work to see the difference. I’m not going out now in case the bogey man gets me.......

Wow, literally night and day......
Fitted some night breakers too. So so much better. It is definitely one those ‘why didn’t I do this earlier’, instead of guessing where the road is

Obviously you can wire one up yourself, but I went for the lazy option since I’d had few to many at the time
