Bonnet catch return spring help

Really simple question (i feel stupid for even asking it really...)

Recently the bonnet catch on my Solihull Special Vehicles (uh-oh) '96 110 started playing up so I decided to overhaul the catch, replace cable etc.

This is embarrassing to admit, but during the dismantling process i managed to fire the return spring from the catch mechanism across the floor, without seeing where it came from. D'oh.

The problem I am having is re-attaching the spring. One end connects to the sliding part of the mechanism. simple, but I cannot find a fixing point within range of the other end of the spring that doesnt obscure the opening for the main latch?.

It is possible that the spring is not the original and has just been 'bodged' in at some point, the spring that came out looks like it has a kink in it where it has been bending around something which doesnt sound right.

I've been looking online and can find lots of exploded diagrams of the assembly but nothing that shows where the spring should actually go...

Can anyone out there help - mebbe just a quick piccie if your bonnet catch or a description of the anchor points?
 
Aha!, Thought it might be that one but there is no wear mark around the hole and the spring that was on there is way too long. So off to rimmer bros I go... thank you for the piccie, really appreciated.

That’s interesting. I thought the spring end went into the adjustable plates and not the hole.

my 90 has nothing so I am currently piecing it together. Same as you, found diagrams very helpful to know what I needed to order but not necessarily where it goes! Obviously it is so simple, even Haynes don’t explain it fully.

If the spring end doesn’t go in the adjustable plates, what are they for?
 
In typical LR precision the bonnet can be a bit all over so the wee plates are used to 'collect' the bonnet catch. The stricker moves around but the pin and the 'hook' are in a fixed position.
I see. That is that’s very helpful. Currently have a bag of all the bits to fit but when it’s not there to start with it’s a little confusing!
 
actually coughed up for a genuine LR part at £5. which is crazy for a spring.

Then add on VAT and delivery...
worth checking John Craddock’s eBay shop as they are slightly cheaper than their website and give free delivery no matter what the price of the order. It’s not all parts but a good selection. Does slightly irk me that they can’t offer same facilities on their own site when it presumably comes from the same stock.
