Bomber Lane, North Wales

Report of a major land slip on Bomber Lane, North Wales at SH 64752 12743. The lane may not be open for a long time. Will be reported to Gwynydd CC this week.

Update on Bomber Lane ORPA, nr. Barmouth.

"Highways have agreed arrangements with the landowner to move the material, and placed an order for the work to be carried out. The contractors involved are completing drainage works on the Trunk Road at the minute and as soon as they are available (possibly as early as next week), they will be commencing the clearance work. There are about 200 tonnes to be removed but as it was somewhat liquid, they have had to wait for the material to dry out to render it reasonably handle-able"

Dear Sir,

I refer to your enquiry regarding "Bomber Lane" - Ffordd Ddu.

Ffordd Ddu (Llanegryn - Cregennan, Arthog) is currently blocked. There has
been a major landslip which has blocked a fair length of the road at
approximately SH 642123. There is no TRO to cover it, just the physical
obstruction. It had been hoped that the slip would have been cleared by now,
a location to tip the material has been agreed and a contractor appointed
but the material is very liquid such that it is almost impossible to
excavate, transport and tip responsibly. If the weather remains as it is, as
promised, we can have a look at it again towards the weekend to see if it
can be removed successfully.

I can give no undertaking that the route will be re-opened by the end of the
month, but if it is, I will endeavour to advise you as soon as I am made
aware of it.

There are no current TRO's (to my knowledge) affecting "green lanes" in
Gwynedd, but the situation is constantly changing. Unfortunately, there is
not currently the facility to place copies of these notices on our web site.

Am I right in thinking that the general approach to "green laning" from the authorities towards motorised users is more welcoming in Wales than it is in England?

I certainly get that feeling from users, farmers and residents when I'm over there, one tends not to get the usual death stare as one does in England...

Have always found English and Welsh Authorities are generally quite good but attitudes from public towards greenlaners does vary....

Normally farmers and public are far more welcoming in wales....

But like in all aspects of life ....You always get exceptions to the rule...

Same as that. Farmers etc are always happy to chat and be sociable.

Only trouble I have ever had in Wales has been from residents and walkers with english accents.

farmers on the whole arn't fussed as long as you're not in their way, upsetting the stock or, more importantly costing them money
