Sorry wolfie151, thought I'd answered you already. I had it already from BMW but not for 23, 32 instead. Thanks for the offer though.

Is it correct what I understood in the video that I'd need an e6 nut for the bolts to open?

Hi Guys,

Eventually I got it changed. Thanks a lot for your help. Here is a photo of the old one. Could it be that it has more power again now? Anyone reckoned that?

Btw, forgot to mention that it clicked in, no new groove on my '02 one needed.

Kind regards
Matthias

Hi Nick, I hope you realise that if I had any knowledge to share I would do so gladly. I am very new to this game and i defiantly come in to the bracket of a Knowledge taker. If I ever have a bit of info I can share with you all I will, it may be a long time in coming and we will probably all be talking about a land rover hover car by then. In the meantime I appreciate all the help I receive from you all as without it I would be in a real pickle. So thanks to you all. :)

RE: bmw crankcase breather
I've been having a black smoke problem with my Freelander 95 plate td4e and after some investigation found a split like a sumo s ass in the intercooler hose which I have to change whilst I'm at it I would like to change the PCv can anyone tell me if the upgrade bmw votex part 11127799367 still fits the Freelander 2 95 plate and where's the best place to get new hoses from ..

I have a spare one as I was sent two (god knows why) its yours for a fiver plus postage if you are still after one, easy to fit and is definitely a fit and forget job. It was the first job i did after buying my Hippo TD4.

Hi if the offers still open I'd like to take you up on it, I've been meaning to do that for a while and this thread has convinced me!

If you want to pm me details for payment if it's still available.

Cheers
:D

Can someone just clarify for me the terms crank case breather and Pcv are they the same thing? So by replacing my original filter for the the BMW cyclone type am I changing my pcv?!! Thanks ! :-/

Mine looked similar but with more oil dripping off!!

Had to trim a slight bit of plastic from the housing to fit the BMW part but other wise its straight forward.

Be ready for the little plastic T pieces for the fuel injector return lines to snap though. they really are in the way and are brittle.

Mine snapped Friday night, TH White managed to take my order and get them delivered to the dealership by 8.30 on the Saturday morning. Ideal! I have seen people replacing them with brass parts that look shiny as well.

post deleted ..
'cause i mis-diagnosed an issue ..
the outcome making what was posted here a load of bollocks ;-)

Bit of thread resurrection here but, for much cheapness from ebay, will this do my TD4...?

Just trying to get all the wee annoying jobs knocked off.

oh dear:( that the is only bit I changed I take it you mean the top part ? is it imperative this be changed as well?

That is the separator which replaces the fluffy cotton real filter.
It's advisable to change the PCV valve at the same time.

My Brother in law is a LR mechanic, he mentioned changing the filter for the BMW cyclone part before I end up with a con-rod through the block. Where is the PC Valve in relation to the filter...?

That's bollocks. You'll only get a rod through the side of the block (broken crank actually) because BMW cheaped out on the cranks. BMW cars using the M47 had steel cranks. The M47 supplied to Rover/ LR used much cheaper cast iron cranks. That's the real reason they randomly fail, which is nothing to do with the breather. Although it is advisable to change the PCV valve, but not to improve crank life.

lol... I won't quote your reply to him, he's been there over 30 years. If my crank goes now, I'll just put that down to the 183k on the clock and the fact that it has a 2500ft climb to work most weeks.
I take it the PC Valve is in behind the three bolts at the other end of the top casing, or does it require the whole top part to be replaced...?
