Blown up Td5

I think LandRover are telling you a few porkies, Ross Floyd who writes in one of the mags (LRM) had his engine fail with the bolt falling off the oil pump on his 110 TD5 he wrote about this in the mag sometime in the middle of last year. No doubt you can find it by asking him [email protected] might be worth an e.mail. In his case I am pretty sure LR stumped up some of the costs even though the vehicle was secondhand. This is a fault most LR specialists know about and was a faulty batch of engines where no Loctite went on the bolt I understand from my source. Keep at them !

Thanks for that information Chris. I was quite surprised the so-called specialist that my Dad is dealing with didn't warn him that there's a distinct possibility the engine will blow up before replacing the pump...and didn't tell him that its a common fault. I'm wondering if they're aware of it...

As for Land Rover, apparently they haven't explicitly said they won't help, just that because its a Defender and not a Discovery they didn't see that they could help. Perhaps splitting hairs a bit, but still, not completely shut the door.
