Hi, had a warning message tailgate open … definitely wasn’t! Fob didn’t work so got a new fob … didn’t work .. changed fuse .. did work…. Until I drove car .. then didn’t work .. work same message coming up and a blooming great big office chair in back of car that I now can’t get out plus don’t have use of rear seats 🙈 I’ve ordered a new boot release which will be hear Saturday or Monday but wondered if anyone else has any suggestions …. I am so fed up of not being able to lock my car , get into boot … now use back seat ..lol!! I’ve had this car 15 years and have always loved it but getting fed up of its ‘quirks’ now . Would really value any advice 🙏

Can you hear the actuator working moving up and down but not releasing. Sometimes the lever can pop out from actuator from a worn bush. The door release handle can stick as the spring gets tired.

Erm, if the a fuse blew, presumably it has blown again - so replacing it would enable you to get the chair out.

You don't say what type of Freelander it is 1 or 2 (and spec) - message could be read as light, presume its a 2 confirmed by viewing your profile. You should say what year it is, presumably no newer than 09.

More importantly if people know about these things on an F2 (and I don't) you should say which fuse had blown as it will identify which circuit - something on that circuit is presumably shorting. Hopefully, as you've ordered one, the boot release is on that circuit and is the culprit. However, the fuse could be on a controlling circuit rather than the actuating one.

Good luck with it. These types of problems are frustrating cos you can't see anything obviously broken, but it causes a lot of inconvenience.

Thank you .. sorry I missed info off, you are right it is a F2 TD4 57 plate. You point about whether the blown fuse and boot release switch are on the same circuit would be helpful to know. I will be changing the fuse again today to get the chair out !
I got a new key fob as initially thought that to be the problem as at one point I had an error message of bonnet open but the message disappeared before I got the new key and hasn’t come back again .

You still haven't said what year it is - "57 plate" means feck all to me. But don't worry about it, its one of my pet hates when people quote their plate rather than just say what year it is. Grrrr, as if we all live in Blighty.

Which fuse was it?

If you buy a fob, it won't just work. The car needs programmed to enable it.

Here in GB a 57 plate means it is a FL2 2007 to the OC if the fuse allowed the gate to open last time it should work again try it and report back to us please.
