I'm going to suggest that you may well have fixed the problem by pulling the pipes off and sticking them back in. I would suggest a valve block re-build as I suspect your rings are very tired ( now now, no smutty comments )
Have a look here. I would suggest just doing one valve at a time though. Saves getting confused.

Wammers is there a way of checking the NRV1 on the block easily???
he's been good as gold since so probably gona leave it alone and keep the idea of it being the NRV1 in mind for the next time it starts being a naughty boy!!!

No it's because when you have a complete valve block in bits infront of you it's easy to forget where the bits go. Trust me, I know. Are you a girl ? Shows how much attention I pay ...
