I was going to ask if you'd knocked back the stake washer thingy....... ;-)

I managed to weld a bearing onto the stub axle a few years back with just a couple of odd 'squeaks' while driving along, your sound effects sound about right for at least the bearing if not the stub axle too.... Mine ran 3 bearings within 3 years from new, LR were kind with a contribution, kind of Friday build on the axles I'd guess..... Good luck, enjoy! A

Well the box spanner started to split. Two 1/2" drive breaker bars are now knackered.......the hub nut is still there laughing at me!
Local LR-mechanic popped over just after tea time (he is a mate) had a go but still nothing. Even resorted to the gas lamp but still nothing. May have to drill n chisel it off in the morning!

Anybody any other ideas to get it off? It's a td5 so torqued upto 210nm. And now seized !

3/4 drive T. bar and scaff tube :)

He brought the socket and a tourque converter etc but it just wouldn't touch it. It's basically fu€k£d! To be fair it's my own fault for crossing rivers n not sorting bearings out straight away. Live n learn!

Does it look rusty / corroded or is it just overtightened? I assume you have tried a breaker bar with long pipe extension as mentioned above? Failing that can you get a grinder / dremel with a thin cutting disk in there to split the nut, it will bugger the stub but as you have one to replace it it doesn't matter. Just need to make sure you don't damage the hub. And yes if you go wading you need to check bearings (and axle / engine / gearbox oils depending on depth) once you get home.
