Replaced the bonnet release cable on my 200tdi defender (I’m using TD5 ones as the original design was **** and they kept breaking). The replacement one broke on first go.

any recommendations? Is there an all metal version of the TD5 one or am I just going to have to live with the pliers on the cable bodge for ever?

Something like this is stronger.

have you got the bonnet pin tension & ailment set up correctly ?

I don't know what bonnet pin tension and ailment mean, which suggest I definitely do?

Basically does the bonnet lacth nice and easy when you shut it, or do you have to get it just right to do so?

There's no plastic in my bonnet release mechanism, the catch assembly is all metal and the handle is all metal.
lt's an old system though, like something you'd find on a Morris Marina.

Actually, it is what you'd find on a Morris Marina

Making sure the pin and latch are align correctly by loosening the latch and shutting the bonnet before opening again and tightening up the latch again being careful not to move it when doing so helps keep the release pull strain low.
