Bleeding bleeding! Brakes

Hi Guys, & Gals sorry, I've just rebuilt all 4 brakes, new cylinders shoes springs hubs etc. & now for some unknown reason I cannot bleed the bleeders!! Have any of you have any useful suggestions please?

If you have a compressor, use a vacuum bleeder:-

Something like the Sealey VS020, on the bay for £20, item number 321925076016

If no compressor, then a pressure bleeder:-

Something like the Trident tyre fed one here:- £24 - flea bay item 251353568607

Does that help ?
 
Try filling the master reservoir, then just leaving the bleed nips open, one at a time. Fluid will just seep down the pipework, and you'll get air-free fluid coming out in fairly short order.

TLS fronts, or SLS?
 
If your using a one man bleed system
Dont over loosen the bleed nipple when depressing the pedal as air can be sucked back in through the threads. They are quite a shite fit and in no way air tight when opened up. Better use a spare child or local drunk to press and release the pedal while you open and close manually.
Other than that gravity bleed as described.
 
Plus one for the gravity bleed suggested by to many 2cvs.
I have never failed with this method and always a "Good Peddle" feeling when done.

And you have got the fluid going IN to the lower port on each cylinder and OUT from the upper port, right? Doesn't matter so much whether it goes through the lower or upper cylinder first, just that you're not going to get trapped air.
 
There's a lot of pipe full of air. It'll take a while for the fluid to come through...

Have you tried just opening a nipple and leaving it for a while?
 
Yes have tried leaving them open all night but nothing!, I am now convinced it's the PDWA valve as when I bought the car the rear brake cylinders had bust, loosing all the fluid etc.

Nightmare! PDWA valve no good definitely stopping fluid getting rearward! Part now obsolete too anyone any ideas where I can get a replacement please? Or alternative solution. MIKE
 
I've got one here that I need, but if I had time I'd strip it down ready for a clean and rebuild. A quick look on the web at a Lockheed one being overhauled showed a bit of corrosion and four aged 'O' rings needing cleaning and replacing. Might well be the quickest solution, and you have noting to lose.
 
Forgot to say that I'd have looked at the internals of mine and told you how tricky it looked - but I'm off on holiday as soon as my Son gets here!
