My new Richards chassis should arrive in a couple of weeks and I will be finishing it in black (Defender 90).
This is not the usual "should I / shouldn't I" question about painting a galvanised chassis or how to prepare it (so please let us not go there!) but instead about the paint YOU personally used and more importantly, how did it go on and how is it standing up after 12-24 months of use?
The obvious choices are Buzzweld CIO, Arc-Rite Corroless Glass Reinforced Chassis Paint In One and of course Frosts Chassis Black (I know there are many others but for simplicity I am sticking to these three).
From what I can gather the Buzzweld & Arc-Rite offerings are to all intents and purposes the same product.
I have spoken to each of the suppliers and got their advice (all have been very helpful) but it is YOUR personal experience I am after.
I am assuming that anyone on here who has painted their galvanised chassis did all the preparation correctly so how did the paint go on and is it holding up as well as you expected (any chips or areas of damage becoming evident)?
As an aside it would be interesting to know how much paint you used, I intend to apply by brush to most areas but spray the rear crossmember and awkward to reach areas.
