bit of advice on selling peice

hey guys

we're looking to sell our range in a few weeks and wondered how much we should be looking to get.

its a 1995 p38 on a m reg 4.0 petrol with lpg conversion all working. grey with cream leather cd player all wheels refurbed a few scratches n some rust bubble on the lower tailgate usual dink on the bonnet from the air box banging up with the backfire off the gas done just under 145k towbar.

air con doesnt work and locking doesnt work off fob.

suspension all in good working order got clear side repeaters and the rear lights are the clear/red nice ones on. mot till july 2013 and tax till december 2012

any help would be much appreciated

Depends on cosmetic condition as well. If it's starting to show its age, particularly interior wise, expect no more than £1500.

interior is in good condition no rips or tears in the leather the carpet is in good condition.

we have found abir of water on the pass side mat but that was a few montha ago and its not happened since so woild it be work getting a new heater matrix?

Depends on where the water came from... if it is coolant, it will smell like it. It's possibly a rainwater leak. If it isn't a constant issue, the expense and hassle of changing the heater matrix (a sod of a job) won't be worth your while bearing in mind the vehicle isn't worth all that much...

it wasnt much water just like someone had got in with wet shoes from walking in rain. ob rhe left side of the mat never smelt it. we found one on ebay for £29 plus postage but like you say its a sod of a job and its not piddling out of water so perhaps leave it.

To get rid as it is probably not more than a grand. Sounds harsh but the market is littered with lots of second hand P38's and lots of them are going for £1500 in tidy condition.

The fact you've had a back fire would suggest a single point gas system, which is old hat for a P38 these days and will work against it.

If its solid and reliable I would use it until you get the bits and pieces done on it. You'll get the money back easy enough (assuming you don't need a new bonnet and complete overhaul of the A/C) and you'll sell it a lot easier in good shape.

The water on the passenger side is more likely to be pollen filters rather than the heater. However the locking not working on the key is more something that a prospective buyer wouldn't appreciate. The air con? Well it's Britain so . . .

It's probably worth just under a grand if it looks shiny on the day but you never know.

Shaun69 from here swapped a dog of a 4.6 that was using 5 litres of water every 20 miles, had no air-con and suspect suspension for a BMW 5 series rag top. He told the guy the absolute truth so there are some nutters around!!
