Yes it will work no problem... a garage that sells bio cheap? Where?

Not being a graduate in geography or anything but based on some relevant facts, i shall take a guess.

FACT 1: His profile lists him as in Liverpool.
FACT2: He says garage is, and i quote, "local".

ASSUMPTION: He is where he says, and garage is local, so therefore garage is in Liverpool or extremely close by, hence reference to local.

Ah cheers for clearing that one up Lenny...

How much are they selling it for?

ffs !! its liverpool, you'll have to take something along to barter with. maybe a sack or two of wheat or flour. cartons of cigarettes are also good

a couple of grams is usually ok too.

you can use bio or vegeoil in the tdi with no real problems esp in the summer. winter is another matter. i use more derv in the winter.
(bigger%).
the real problem is that no one has really used svo/wvo for any length of time in the tdi. therefore the effects on the IP are a bit vague.
my view on the subject is that my car is worth about a grand. so if the IP goes belly up in a yrs time, then its no big deal to me.
if your car is worth say 5 grand then your viewpoint may be rather different.
esp if there is a warranty involved?

I spoke to a L/R dealer in Germany who said I could not use Bio Diesel without mods, I don't want to blow my engine!!!

I have a 200TDi Disco!

ffs sneezy dont be such a girl, ive been using bio for over 2 years now without any damage to the engine. it is impossible to blow your engine by using a fuel with a slightly higher flash point.i run a 200tdi on bio as well as a vw golf on the stuff. without any worries ;)

The dealer is talking nonsence, you will not damage you engine, its the IP that it would damage anyway, the IP on the 200tdi engine is a Bosch, these pumps will take it NP. The German engines will infact take bio the best, because they have been designed with it in mind, and bosch = German.

The LR dealer proably thought you meant veg oil, or didn't have a clue and though he would appear to know what he was on about...

Most diesel in the UK has some bio in it anyway, I know for a fact that everyday tanker loads of bio get emptied into the diesel tanks at Grangemouth.

being a little dim here (say 5 watt)
bio-derv / veg(cooking) oil needs tinkering with before its usable as fuel??

& can i stuff it in a '97 DSE Rangy?? :)

Veg oil on its own is not so smart, thicker, can cause increased pressures, not as good at lubricating.

Bio diesel, is good, its as it says Bio-Diesel, its more or less a derv replacement, shove it in and away you go, better for the engine too.
