Before you put any in your tank ask for a small sample 100ml will do, get a clean coke bottle 500ml version and add about 100ml of clean water and the biodiesel, give it a good shake and let it stand for 20 mins, you should get clear water at the bottom and cloudy bio on top, the bio should clear in a day or so to leave clear (yellow) biodiesel on top of clear water with no scum layer between them. If you get this result then you should be good to go, any white water or scum layer between and i would stear clear.
 
I run my 300tdi on 100% home brew biodiesel (5-10% mis fuel in winter) and have done for the last year without issue-pulls like a train,but I am very careful over quality.The test hifly is suggesting you try is a soap test(not all commercial bio is as good as they would have you believe)If you do this test and the resultant water is milky or white-there is soap still in the bio and this soap will either deposit in your filter or worse get through to your injectors-or simply drop out in your tank and then make it into your filter,blocking it-It really is worth doing this test before committing this fuel to your vehicle.Properly made bio,Landy's love it.Good luck
 
forgot to say, have a spare fuel filter with you. The bio diesel is thicker then pump diesel and any crap at the bottom of your tank could lift off and get dumped in the filter. I would change the filter 2 or 3,000 mile after you start using bio unless it blocks before that, just to be on the safe side.
 
Not many places sell it now, no profit if they pay the duty to HMRC which they must. Some commercial producers flog it as heating fuel and avoid the duty but dodgy dealers =dodgy fuel usually.
 
You can run the 300tdi on neat veg oil from the cash n carry, good new clean oil just add 5% petrol to it shake well leave for a few days give it a shake a couple of times then pour it in
 
I ran our old terrano tdi for years and many trouble free Miles with no issues, the petrol at 5% will thin it down a small amount and winterise it. What do you think they put in pump derv to stop it waxing ?
