So the Billing off road show has been planned for 2020.
Dates were released back when this Years show happened.

Now surprise surprise , the Kelmarsh show ( live etc) is moving back to Billing Aquadrome and it is happening during the same weekend. WTF?? Not the normal weekend they runthe Kelmarsh show in , but the same weekend as another show literally on the canalside!.

What a bunch!.

Cheers

How fukin nasty to put a similar show on the same weekend in order to try to pinch visitors away from another show. It will put a split between traders anorl if they attended both shows previously.

Billing now cancelled and they are refunding less a transaction fee  unless you take tickets for next year - think I will argue the deduction if they take anything from me....as no transaction fee when I bought the tickets!

I used to travel from Ireland to the Billing shows years ago. Then getting married and having kids I could never seem to find the time. I started doing up my 90 this year and had hoped to do a trip in it next year with a couple of friends (fellow enthusiasts) and was aiming for Billing. I know the Billing offroad show is on there but is the show which is to be in the Aquadrome the LRO show from Kelmarsh and is it going to be there in 2021? I had hoped to book camping tickets for the Offroad show but if the Aquadrome is being used again I would quite like to go there as it used to be quite good and I havent been to the Offroad show on the farm. I am not sure on the best thing to do now as the guys going are not particularly into offroading and have never been to any of the shows before, we will also have a group of teenage kids with us. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Given that the Aquadrome kicked ALL car shows out as they wanted to use the space to house more caravans, personally, i wouldn't go back if they sent me a personal invitation with accompanying grovelling letter!
The people next door, with the off road course have proven that they can hold a decent show so they'll have MY money in the future.
I also haven't forgotten about the big noise Kelmarsh made about having a brand new off road course designed by, if memory serves, Vince Cobley being built there too!
THAT pished me off BIG TIME when i arrived and found i had to drive five miles away to an already established company's venue!
Then when we attended for the second time finding that we could only use half of the course!
Those organisers treated us people pretty poorly, and then to announce the return of Great Billing on the same weekend as those next door???

calm....white fluffy clouds.........

Tixover oft road site run by the cobley family? They design a different route each year and use Tixover in recent years. Yarwell before that.

Maybe it's me but I don't understand the attraction of land rover shows.... people I've bought parts off in the past admit to putting their prices up at shows and anything I've ever needed I've managed to source from Ebay, paddocks or craddocks. What am I missing? (Apart from having my pride and joy stripped in the carpark obviously)

Yes, and i expect it drew a lot of people to buy tickets and then like me, be disappointed to find i'd been palmed off on some other place called Avalanche Adventure...

I like to have a look at other people's Landies for inspiration. There are so many with personal touches. As for costs, i've already got prices in mind from checking up online beforehand as i am a suspicious bugger and suspect everybody wants to rip me off, so i already have a top price i'll pay and i'll only buy if i know i'm paying less.
You also get 'show specials'. I've bought camber adjusted front and rear radius arms, diff guards, sump guards and twice a set of tyres all as show specials. One year at Billing i even got them fitted there for free.
The only drawback i see is if it's a part with several variants and i need to get the correct one for my car. What i do now is ask THEM which model it fits. If they don't know or aren't sure i walk away. I find this is SO MUCH BETTER than asking if this is for a such and such vehicle because when they say yes we both know we won't see each other again...

Not palmed oft. They always used one of their sites and advertised it like that. It takes a lot of effort to sweep the course clear to make it none damaging track. Have marshals on hand to ride in for novice drivers. MarshalseMarshals to help with recovery. If you had to dig up a field and do the above, then put the field back, it would cost too much. Especially as it needs put back before the next show the following weekend.

When they first advertised the 'New Billing Show', which in itself annoyed me as i'd already bought tickets for the 'New Billing Show', the place next door. It was a mate who sent me a text about me not mentioning that the new show was the other side of Corby. I said yes it has moved. Over to the other side of the fence...
When i looked into it they were advertising it as being held by the 'original organisers' and having moved to Kelmarsh Hall and were going to have a new off road course built there on site by either Vince or the other Cobley. It was the only reason i bought tickets.

I prefer the LRO show now.
From 2004 to 2008 I used to go to the Billing show religiously and set up camp with friends. That is until the knuckleheads started showing up and start stealing parts off of parked Landys.
