Got to the bottom of the horn sounding twice when locking. I thought it was front passenger door switch cuz it was bent and just looked naff. Changed that for a new part with no difference so looked at the bonnet switch (belatedly). Looks like it's missing a rubber boot on the top looking at new parts in comparison, so bonnet wasn't closing the switch enough.
Popped an M4 bolt in there and bobs yer uncle, no horn sound when I lock it.

Neighbours will be pleased, I was starting to get disapproving stares :p:D

Very tidy underneath as well :) 4 new bfg ko2s on the way, cleaned the MAF, MAP and AAP sensors today and the airbox. Needs an engine degrease, slight leak on the rocker gasket. Bit of play on the steering, the box is damp round the drop arm but its not using any fluid.
Clunks a bit when you take up drive, only when you rush the clutch or gearchange.
Link to a video showing it all over and I've tried to show the backlash on the rear prop and play in uj's and 1 of the halfshafts.

If anyone could watch and point me in right direction that'd be great :) I'm thinking new halfshafts and uj's.

I'll keep updating as I do the jobs, got a few little additions planned like cubby box and swing away spare wheel carrier also locking metal lid for pick up bed. I need to carry max 4 bikes on it somehow

XEngineering pedal box on the way, got a crook lock on steering wheel for now but I'll still use it as well. Tracker fitted as well  also installing a post on the driveway.

I'll have 2 tyres available if anyone wants them, details in video

Luvin the little fella and his truck, and the woofit!

Yep hoping the shafts/flanges and uj's take a lot of it out. If the bearings need doing it ain't the end of the world she's a keeper :D

Keep it safe?;)

i changed both props and uj's made sense to do all at once.
Just as well the front prop slider was dry as a bone, so re greasing would not have helped as the seals were fubar.
i grease props and uj's with gun twice a year, makes a big difference!

Love the hazard tape on the pedal lock,

I would write on it

"if you reading this, you are about to get a spanner rammed up yer arse, and clapped round the head with a wheel brace"

:p

And a staffy hanging off yer bollox :p

R.e props and grease I did the ones on the disco about 6 times in 2 years :D it's that easy there's no excuse lol. I was thinking just swap the props out then if these are ok I can keep as spares

Nice clean inside you got there, do nto think mine has ever been that clean.
Greasing UJ's, I do mine whenever it goes off road for extended fun or gets in deep mud and water. Would hate to wait for 6 months...LOL.
Just looking into getting a new front prop as the old one is tired.

Cheers

Cheers neilly, whether I can keep it that way is another matter!
When I greased the rear prop slider I couldn't seem to get much in and eventually some came out of the end into the yoke. Im wondering is the prop goosed and slider seized?

I pull my props apart and give them a darn good cleaning about once a year, regreasing on the sliders. Amazing how much gunk gets in there when is has been deep in the gunky stuff.

Cheers

When i greased my rear prop i stripped it down and filled it up, wasnt dry but grease was fairly old.

Ive never had good luck with grease guns they send me into a fit of rage as ive never been able to make one work in a reliable way :rolleyes:

Interior does look good smithy! Very clean indeed.

I normally get more out the bottom of the gun when I'm refilling it than out the bloody end
Cheers mate, it was one of the stand out things, looks like it's had soundproofing and new carpet set along with respray. So that and chassis/general body condition made it for me. Anything else I should be able to sort myself and learn a fair bit along the way. That's the plan anyway

PMSL its not the gun..........its the ****ey nipple connector.......took me a good few years of grease banana-ing up my wrist before I worked that out!
I also use nipple covers now.......
This post sounds so wrong........

Clunk/judder on unsympathetic take up of drive seems to have got worse. I know the halfshafts need doing, theyre in the garage. So got underneath today to investigate further. A frame ball joint seems good, the upper arm bushes have some play but not desperate. The rear prop I'm convinced is seized on the slider so new 1 has been ordered (gkn uj's). The rear shocks are, well shocking. Can be spun round in the bushes and moved up and down by hand by a good 2 inches. The lower bush in one side is completely disintegrated. Signs of leakage. They looked a bit rough when I viewed the car but they were obviously worse than I thought. No problem though not a great expense and they look original to be fair. So new rears ordered.
Front halfshafts have excessive play and 1 swivel is/has been leaking. Prop seems good, new uj's going on.

So plan is do the rear halfshafts, prop and shocks, go on holiday in August then attack the front halfshafts/cv joints rebuild swivels with seal kits and do shocks and front prop uj's o_O

Any advice r.e swivel rebuild kits and method would be great :)

Shop4autoparts for the swivel bearings - cheapest ive found imo.

Use Timken bearings where possible.

Buy a 14mm ratchet spanner itll save you so much time.

Id also suggest replaceing any bolts you remove.

Worth checking the wheel bearing condition at the same time - Id be tempted to order a set incase yours are shot then youve no down time!

Check your brake discs are in good nick too.

Get a proper 52mm socket - Not a box spanner!

Did mine recently so this should help on part numbers
