Hi to all, I have been recently having problems with my Land rover freelander 54 plate td4 ( see other threads ) and after extensive checks by different garages and many parts replaced , We have been told its a faulty injector. So bit the bullet and bought some Bosch reconditioned diesel injectors. To keep the cost down I searched everywhere and eventually purchased 4 injectors form 2 different sellers on Ebay( 2 from each ) Yes I might only need one but thought what the hell. Anyway first 2 arrived and with correct serial number ending in 49 and look good, time will tell as not yet fitted. The other 2 arrived and after examining the serial numbers on the top with a magnifying glass the last number has been scored out on both injectors. The sellers listing stated they were for my car ie ending in 49 but the picture he had of the injector showed 47 ( Bmw 3.0 d ), I should have walked away then but after contacting the seller he assured me that the photo was of old stock and that he would be sending out the correct injector ie 49. So if this was the case why would he score out the last number? Needless to say I have opened a case on Ebay to return them as they wont be going anywhere near my car. Now I am not sure if I am allowed to name and shame this seller on here but if anyone wants to know drop me a email and I will tell you. Regarding my car. It is going into garage next week for injectors to be fitted but will only be replacing one if thats all it needs. Will let you all know.

I think you will find you will not be able to name and shame and why should you because you bought on your own volition. If he already had poor rating under EBAY then his status would reflect this and good people like yourself would decide not to buy.

Hi, The sellers feedback was 100 percent although not sold that many items. And concerning buying cheap, when you have already spent close to £600 and still no fix can you blame me?

In relation to your quote 'extensive checks by different garages and many parts replaced' were any of these garages Specialists in Land Rover and if so why did they not diagnose the problem to start with, rather than replacing many parts in the hope of solving the problem.
How much did you pay for the 4 injectors and what would have been the cost for 1 new one?

Doesn't excuse the behaviour of the Ebay seller though.

When I used to leave my Landie to the "specialists" - they sucked an awful lot more than £600 out of me replacing both cylinder heads, radiator, viscous fan etc. In the end I took it to a non-Landie mechanic recommended by my neighbour and he got closest to fixing its overheating issues by replacing the expansion bottle cap!

The cap be bought from a Landie specialist, but on checking it, it didn't hold the right pressure so had to get a 2nd one.

I got to the stage where I wasn't going to spend "good money" on it again.

If there is something beyond my capability I now use a Jag specialist for anything engine related as the Disco 3 and Jag use the same engine.
Was in there last week and I'm always impressed with the quality of work and 3 of the staff also drive Discos, the others have Jags.

I'm not going to buy injectors from ebay sellers any more. My local garage gets them reconditioned for largely the same price and haven't had a failure yet so it's not worth experimenting however tempting it may be.

Finding a garage that know what they are doing and having the right equipment to diagnose problems isnt easy. A lot of them say they are Land rover specialists but have not backed that up with the money that we have spent. The so called reconditioned injectors I purchased from Ebay cost over £100 each and have now been returned for a full refund, never again. I believe after searching the net a brand new injector cost over £400 each , ouch !!
Anyway, With help and advice from here we always believed the problem to be fuel related and rather than fork out for more injectors we decided to try another garage recommended to us . Good news they found the fault and replaced the part within an hour a faulty Fuel Sensor all seems good now but will obviously see how things go . Going to go back to other garage and see if they are willing to give me some money back for there incompetence, but not holding my breath.
